Artists » Graham Vasey
Growing up in the North East of England in County Durham, Graham Vasey was surrounded by the high windswept fells of the Pennines and the Yorkshire Dales. Childhood trips with his family took him out in these beautiful dramatic places, which in the end had a profound effect on Vasey. Over the years as he developed as an artist and photographer it was only natural that he should turn to these places for inspiration for his pictures.
The use of traditional equipment and hand printing techniques are an important part of Vasey's creative process. These methods allow him to have full control of the creating of final print, giving Vasey the ability to fully express himself through his photographs. In this way he has been able to develop his own original style, giving his work its own sense of identity and originality. One of the most important aspects of Vasey's work is creating a sense of place for the viewer, capturing for the viewer the feeling of emotion one draws from the landscape around them; bring them closure to the earth, rather than showing them a simple pacing glace of a place.
